Steel Material: CNC Steel Machining

Steel: high strength, good plasticity and toughness, impact resistance, reliable performance, easy to process into plates, profiles and wires, good welding and riveting performance. Easy to rust, high maintenance cost, poor fire resistance and large production energy consumption. Our company has rich experience in the cnc steel machining.

Steel Grade

We provide CNC machining services for steel and its different grades. The following are some grades of steel that we work with:

1.Stainless steel 304 -which has a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Type 304 has a maximum carbon of 0.07% . Alloy 304 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and has a high ease of fabrication, outstanding formability after cnc machining. Type 304/304L has good forming and excellent welding characteristics. It is non-hardenable by heat treatment and work harden rapidly.

2. Mild Steel – This grade of steel is known to have a lower content of carbon (0 to 0.25%). This helps increase the ductility of the steel and makes it strong. The low carbon variant of mild steel is used for forming and packaging.

3. Carbon Steel – This is one of the most widely used grades of steel in the US. The carbon content of carbon steel is greater than that of the mild steel. Carbon steel is less ductile but much stronger as compared to mild steel.

4. Plain Carbon Steel – This is another grade of steel that we work with. Depending upon the carbon content, this grade is further divided into several sub-categories, which include low, medium, high, and ultra-high carbon steel.

5. Low & High Alloy Steel – The total alloying content of the low alloy steels can vary from 2.07% to 10.5%. The alloying elements present in low alloy steels include molybdenum, chromium, and nickel. On the other hand, high alloy steels are a type of stainless steel, which contains a minimum of 10.5% chromium, along with nickel. This helps make these steel variants corrosion resistant and attain properties like good weldability and strength.

Steel

1018

●Plain low carbon steel

●Good formability and weldability

●Case harden only

Rivets and parts requiring strong welds

12L14

●Excellent machinability

●Case harden only

Endless commercial products; probably more pounds used in turned products than any other bar stock

1137

●Higher carbon, higher strength

●Direct hardening

Higher stress applications, gears, shafts, studs

Alloy Steel

4041

●Good toughness and strength

●Direct hardening and heat treatable

●Harder than CR 1018

Higher stress applications needing the strength of an alloy
