Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania has secured an order to supply 360 buses to the state-owned company Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) in Malaysia.

Under the order, the manufacturer will deliver 360 units of the Scania K 250 UB4x2 buses that will be used for operations in the city of Kuantan and in the capital Kuala Lumpur.

Scania Malaysia managing director James Armstrong said, "Each model can also be customised in terms of passenger capacity, seating plans, comfort levels and other key criteria as required."

According to the manufacturer, the new engine platform allows the Scania buses to offer higher torques at lower revs along with lower fuel consumption.

The Scania city bus model comes with a low-floor chassis and handicap access capability for all passengers with a ramp for full wheelchair access.

Features of the buses include two docking slots with seatbelts for safe wheelchair anchorage, body made of aluminum to reduce weight and fuel consumption.
